My husband Chris and I have always enjoyed visiting antiques fairs, junk shops and boot fairs buying old, unusual or ‘too good to leave behind’ bargains. Eventually we realised as we got older and our children have children of their own, we needed to go through our large untidy loft and do some sorting out.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you view our retirement business, we ended up buying more than we were selling. Our hobby is now a small business which we both enjoy. I love the thought that items made decades ago with love and care can have a second chance.

Many of the items we sell have been hand painted, or crafted individually, with hours of someone’s time and expertise. These days if it’s not dishwasher proof it has no place in the modern world. How sad. Hold an old, hand painted piece of porcelain and imagine what it has seen through the decades….. It can be washed, but it might take a minute or two…. Surely giving a minute to so much history is worthwhile? It certainly is to us.
